Anywhere in the US, by phone and video

An experienced IT person in your corner.

Technology moves faster than anyone can keep up with, and most people end up guessing — buying the wrong thing, trusting the wrong advice, or putting off decisions because they are not sure. You do not need a full-time IT department. You need somebody experienced to ask.

What it costs

First conversation free. Then $145/hr by phone or video, anywhere in the US — or the $650/month retainer for a business that wants an ongoing go-to person. No commissions behind any recommendation.

Stop guessing

Which laptop, which Wi-Fi system, which cloud storage, which AI tool, whether that email is a scam, whether the quote you were handed is fair. Each one is a small decision, and together they decide whether your technology works for you or quietly costs you time and money.

Search results are written by people selling something, and forums are full of confident strangers. What helps is one experienced person who knows your situation and tells you plainly what they would do.

Who it is for

Small businesses without an IT person — the owner or office manager who has become the IT department by default and would rather not be.

Professionals and freelancers working from home who depend on their equipment and cannot afford a bad week.

Individuals and families who want a knowledgeable person to call instead of guessing, or instead of relying on a relative.

Anyone about to spend real money on technology and wanting a second opinion first.

What we help with

Buying decisions. Computers, phones, networking, printers, storage, software — specific recommendations for your needs and budget, not a generic top-ten list.

Setting things up properly. Walked through by screen share, or done for you remotely where that is possible: new computers, Microsoft 365 or Google accounts, backups, password managers, home and office Wi-Fi.

AI, explained plainly. What tools like ChatGPT, Copilot and Claude are genuinely useful for, which fit your work, how to use them well, and what not to paste into them. For businesses with confidential data, whether a private AI server makes sense.

Security and scams. Checking a suspicious email or call, locking down accounts with multi-factor sign-in, and sorting things out calmly if something has already gone wrong.

Second opinions. A quote from an IT company, a contract for a new system, a recommendation from a salesperson — reviewed and explained in plain English.

How it works

Call or send a short description of what you are dealing with. The first conversation is free, and it is enough to tell you whether we can help and roughly how long it would take.

After that, sessions are by phone or video call with screen sharing, booked at a time that suits you including evenings and weekends. You can use it once for a single decision, or keep us as your go-to technology person. Notes and recommendations are written down and sent to you afterwards, so you are not trying to remember what was said.

Honest limits

Remote help cannot replace a pair of hands. Outside the Chicago area we do not do on-site work, so anything that needs cabling, hardware repair or someone physically in the room will be pointed to a good local option — and if we can help you find and vet that person, we will.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Do I need to be in Chicago?

No. Remote advice works anywhere in the US by phone and video call. On-site work is only available in the Chicago area.

How much does it cost?

The first conversation is free. After that it is $145 an hour. For a business that wants an ongoing go-to person, the $650/month retainer is an option.

Do I have to buy anything from you?

No. There is no commission or partner programme behind a recommendation, and you can buy whatever you decide on from wherever you like.

Can you fix things remotely?

Often, yes. With your permission and a secure remote session, a lot of setup and troubleshooting can be done directly on your computer while you watch. If it cannot be done remotely, you will be told what the options are.

Is this only for businesses?

No. Individuals and families are welcome. The common thread is wanting an experienced person to ask rather than guessing.

Can you help me understand AI tools?

Yes. What they are good at, which ones suit your work, how to get useful results from them, and what information you should keep out of them.

Tell us what is going on

You will speak to an engineer, not a salesperson.

We reply by the next business day, if not sooner. No sales sequence, no drip emails — one human, one call.

Ready when you are.

Ring and describe it in plain English. You will get a number before anyone drives anywhere.
